About the event
On July 27, the Friends of the Rose Valley Wildlife Preserves are working at the Chadwick Wildlife Preserve on Long Point to eradicate invasive Knotweed and plant native trees.
Volunteers are needed. If you are able and willing to help, please come to the Chadwick Preserve at 12 N. Longpoint Lane on Saturday July 27th between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. You are welcome for whatever amount of time you can contribute. But if you can start at 9:00 and participate in team assignments it will be helpful.
Hopefully, many hands will make light work! The work will be supervised. There will be tasks for every level of ability. You will be assigned to small teams with appropriate jobs. Work to include:
· Cutting Knotweed stems
· Piling Stems on Tarps
· Planting 5 small trees
· Clearing invasive plants around young native trees
Some tools will be provided, but if you have them, please bring your favorite pruning tool and work gloves.
Bring your family and friends! We hope you will join us for a friendly work day. And while you are there, you will enjoy a leisurely walk on the trails. (The Mountain Laurel are in bloom.) There will be snacks!
Please RSVP Jim Audley at jimaudley@aol.com to help us plan the event.
